Visitors get a glimpse into rich tribal traditions when they attend a summertime powwow or rodeo. Feel the beat of the drums, join in an open dance, keep pace with the fast action of a rodeo, enjoy traditional foods, and take home handmade arts and crafts – powwows and rodeos provide a rare opportunity to participate in the living culture.
Pow wows are a traditional Native way of meeting to dance, sing, renew old friendships and make new ones. MHA Nation hosts many of the largest outdoor powwows in North Dakota, drawing visitors from around the nation.
Rodeo cowboys and cowgirls compete in events like barrel racing, calf roping, bull riding and more. The 4th of July Rodeo in New Town gives visitors a taste of the Old West.
Powwows and rodeos are held throughout the summer. View the calendar below for a complete listing of upcoming events.
